MDM Integrations
Why Pult Presence needs MDM device data, which providers are supported, and how to get started.
MDM (Mobile Device Management) integrations provide the device-to-user mapping that Pult Presence needs to identify who is connected to the office network.
Why MDM Is Needed
WiFi controllers report connected clients by MAC address, but they don't know which employee each device belongs to. MDM systems maintain this mapping -- they know which device (identified by serial number and WiFi MAC address) is assigned to which user (identified by email).
Pult syncs this device inventory from your MDM and uses it for:
- WiFi Presence -- Match observed WiFi clients to Pult users via MAC address.
- Device Authentication -- Automatically identify users when their device initiates an authentication request via serial number lookup.
The integration is always read-only -- Pult only reads device information and never modifies anything in your MDM system.
Supported Providers
| Provider | Platform Coverage | Authentication | Guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Intune | Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, Linux | OAuth admin consent | Overview / Setup |
| Jamf Pro | macOS, iOS (Apple ecosystem) | API client credentials | Overview / Setup |
| Kandji | macOS, iOS (Apple ecosystem) | API token | Overview / Setup |
| SOTI MobiControl | Cross-platform | OAuth2 + service account | Overview / Setup |
| Mosyle Business | macOS, iOS (Apple ecosystem) | API token + service account | Overview / Setup |
You can connect multiple MDM integrations simultaneously -- for example, Intune for Windows devices and Jamf for macOS devices. All device data is merged into a single inventory.
If no MDM system is available, you can import devices manually via CSV.
Shared Requirements
- Devices must have users assigned in the MDM system so Pult can identify the device owner.
- User emails in the MDM must match emails in Pult for automatic user resolution (case-insensitive).
- For WiFi Presence: MAC address randomization must be disabled on managed devices so the WiFi MAC registered in the MDM matches what the WiFi controller sees.
