Getting Started
Choose the right Pult Presence setup for your organization and get started.
Pult Presence offers flexible deployment options to fit your IT infrastructure. This guide helps you choose the right approach and points you to the relevant setup guides.
Choose Your Approach
| Pult Agent | WiFi Presence | Combined | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How it works | Desktop app sends IP-based beacons | WiFi controller + MDM provide client/device data | Both methods run in parallel |
| End-user involvement | Users install the agent (or IT deploys via MDM) | None -- fully transparent to users | Agent users install; WiFi users need nothing |
| Infrastructure needed | Static public IP per office | Cloud-managed WiFi + MDM system | Both |
| Connection types | WiFi and wired (LAN) | WiFi only | All connections covered |
| Platforms | macOS, Windows, Linux | Any device on the WiFi network | All |
| Best for | Organizations without cloud-managed WiFi, or wanting wired connection support | Organizations with existing WiFi + MDM infrastructure wanting zero-touch | Maximum coverage and redundancy |
Common Setup Scenarios
WiFi + MDM (zero-touch)
The most common enterprise setup. Requires no software on employee devices.
- Connect your WiFi controller: Cisco Meraki, Aruba Central, or UniFi
- Connect your MDM: Microsoft Intune, Jamf, Kandji, MobiControl, or Mosyle
- Configure presence locations with your office network subnets
- Set up location mapping rules to map WiFi client subnets to presence locations
- Enable sync
Pult Agent only
Ideal when you don't have cloud-managed WiFi, or need to support wired connections and personal devices.
- Configure presence locations with your office public IP subnets
- Distribute the agent to employees: manual installation or automated via MDM
- Optionally set up bootstrapping for hands-free enrollment
Combined (Agent + WiFi)
Use both methods for maximum coverage -- for example, WiFi Presence for managed mobile devices and the Pult Agent for laptops on wired connections.
- Follow the WiFi + MDM setup steps above
- Deploy the Pult Agent to devices that need wired connection support or aren't covered by WiFi
Both data sources feed into the same presence locations and analytics.
After Setup
Once detection is running:
- Review attendance data in the Presence Dashboard
- Enable automations like booking confirmation or missing booking notifications
- Plan your employee rollout with communication templates
